[ SHOWGSD-L ] Xylitol is EXTREMELY lethal to dogs in fairly small amounts

Got an email about a dog who consumed 7 pieces of Orbit gum, only to go into
liver failure and nearly die. Evidently, Xylitol (a sweetner) is lethal to
dogs. Their body aborbs 100 percent of the chemical while ours absorbs only 5%.
This dog had to have emergency major surgery to remove the gum from its stomach
and is spending time in an ICU. So..watch the gum around the dogs!
