You do the work. You are in the trenches. If ever you wish to change the
rules or are unhappy with them, then through your Parent Club and AKC
Delegate you contact the American Kennel Club with a proposed revision for the
judging of parent club futurities/maturities. They can become an unsanctioned
match, or depending on negations, other arrangements may be made. Dog showing
and shows also evolve and due to the nature of the beast (no pun intended)
change of themselves as needs change.
Pending that, (speaking as an attorney) you follow the rules.
I agree with Helen. If you feel a law can be changed, you have the right to
fight for the change. You can legislate changes, you can petition for a
difference, and you can vote to elect those who will work for change. But, up
to
the time of the change, you follow the rules and the laws, or stand for the
penalties.
As Tish told us, the four month rule has been in effect for 15 years. For
me, if a handler has shown for me, I would not want him showing under me for a
year, at least. But, that is just me. Rules are there to be followed, even
those we do not like.
