We have gotten so used to nervous dogs that we consider the judge being able to
barely touch them to be "good enough". The dog, especially once over 12 months
old, should be able to acknowledge and/or ignore the judge. They do not have to
act like he is their best friend but he certainly is no threat unless the judge
stalks them like at Burbank.
The judge is in the best position to evaluate that response as we can't feel
them quiver and can't see their eyes.
