Many of us are very passionate about our breed and I think it is human nature
when someone comes out of the blue and puts generalizations on our breed and
breeders why of course we are going to become defensive and insulted. People
need to think before they open their mouth on how things sound (me included) we
are not perfect. But to come out and blame breeders for Purposely breeding
down pasterns and German working dogs do not have the problem. That is
insulting.
As she posted more and more I think I saw her chose her words more carefully
and began to see what she was asking and looking for education on.
A lot of American line breeders get insulted regularly by some of the german
line people in forums etc. Its very hard to turn that other cheek when our
beloved breed is under attack. Yes we should all work together but that means
ALL. I prefer my american breed german shepherds but I have also seen some
very nice german bred as well. There are good and bad in both.

We need to listen to everyone. Some take a while to learn the manner in
which to post, and we need to try to not be insulted by someone who disagrees
with us. I find most and maybe all the posts have value. Some speak with a
more raucous voice, (look at Flower Boy), but there is a kernel of wisdom in
all of it.
Let's try not to attack when we feel we are criticized, but rather to offer
suggestions and responses.
And, yes, we need all people who love the breed to join the club and the
discussion. Not much else is necessary.

Yes Michelle and when given examples that her assumptions about weak pasterns
weren't breed or even species specific by at least a dozen experienced breeders
she just went on and on and on with the wrong assumptions and generalizations,
insulting the dog's breeders and calling their ethics into questions.
Is this the new blood we need? I can only imagine what Connie and John would
have said to me before turning their back lol.
