[ SHOWGSD-L ] Why We Are Renewing Our Membership

I hope everyone read Evan's post, really good perspective that I hope most if
not all identify with. If you skipped or missed it, I left it attached.

This allows me to again say something, which I so seldom do.
I do not act or fail to act, by what others do to me, or say about me. I do
what I want to do out of a desire to satisfy myself. I belong to the GSDCA
because I feel a need to support the organization that has been given the
authority to set the standard for our breed. I show dogs because I enjoy
it. I work in the law because I have a good time trying to help people, and
will continue as long as I feel that way. I practice magic because it
pleases me to do so.
If our club treats me poorly, if the board fails to act as I like, if
people yell at me, or are rude, I don't use that to determine how I act, or
what
I do. That is their problem, not mine.
I know there are things that I do not agree with in our club. There are
people who dislike me, who start rumors about me, that do things that harm the
membership, or do not serve our club. But, that is their problem. I will
do what I can to change those things I can, and accept the things I cannot.
(No I am not a member of AA, yet). And, yes, I do know the difference.
I will always support the GSDCA so long as I can, and so long as the AKC
still gives them the duty to protect our breed. I do it because I want to,
believe in the institution, and know that the majority of the other members
feel the same way. I do it because our board is dedicated to the club,
right or wrong. I do it because I enjoy the breed, and have fun doing it. If
it
isn't fun for you, if it makes you mad, if you get upset, if you are
frustrated and cann't change the things you hate, do something else. Only you
can make yourself happy, and only you can bring yourself down. Others do not
have that power.
It is your individual opinion that matters, not what other do, think or how
they act.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
