Will try to answer to the best of my knowledge:
I want to know if all dogs that test for both markers of DM do show signs
of it.
NO, the markers simply indicate that the dog is a carrier of the disease; it
does not indicate that the dog will show signs at time of death.
I want to know if dogs free of DM markers ever go down in the rear from
causes not known?
YES, IVVD for one, we need more Necropsies!!
I want to know if we breed free of the two DM markers for generations if
we can eliminate DM from the breed?
That is the prayer and hope of everyone, In theory YES

My Big Ben kids did not show signs of DM, xxxxxxxx died from cancer at age
12 and her sister died at 11. Their brother xxxxxx who you remember had
perianal fistulas :-( I had to put him to sleep at age 7, very sad..
This is a quote I got from someone who had Ben progeny.
I want to know if all dogs that test for both markers of DM do show signs
of it.
I want to know if dogs free of DM markers ever go down in the rear from
causes not known?
I want to know if we breed free of the two DM markers for generations if
we can eliminate DM from the breed?
I remember when they diagnosed DM by not being able to find any other
cause of the symptoms. Now that we have a test, how sure is it that every dog
that goes down in the rear, with no other cause is now tested to have both
DM markers?
I am willing to read and listen. But, so far I am not satisfied that every
dog with one marker should be eliminated from the gene pool.
We seem to have so many other problems in the breed right now.
