Evidently we are getting the message out. Our breed remains in the top
three for popularity. Everyone who I talk to loves our dogs, and always says
they had one just like it.
I have more people looking for puppies than we have to offer, and when I
tell strangers I am involved in German shepherds they always want to talk
about the dogs.
We are doing it right. Maybe the numbers are down, but the popularity and
quality is up.
I understand there are people who want to quit showing dogs. I understand
there are people who no longer want to go to dog shows. I understand there
are people who gave up on the Parent Club, and there are people who drop
out of everything.
That is a personal choice. I would never try to stop someone from quitting,
or moving on to something else. I never even try to talk people out of
suicide. It is up to them.
For me, this is a great sport, the German shepherd is a great breed, life
is good, work is fun, and tomorrow is another day. I just want to be there
to enjoy it.
