I really haven't heard it a lot but I've heard it. "No one shows at futurities
anymore. So and so doesn't show at futurities so this great dog wasn't there."
I was and am still proud of what we did. I have tougher skin than that, note,
I'm wading in here! :-)
I think you bring up a good question. Personally and I speak for no one, I
think it can serve both purposes. It gets young dogs a chance to get out and
be part of the breeders showcase and it gets the newbies a place to show their
dogs.
You have made me think. I know for me the futurity and my success was my first
taste of it and it certainly got me hooked. I believe in the futurity as being
a breeders showcase, it's what make me show Molly in the first place. I was
raised with that belief. So, why can't it serve both purposes? Get more dogs
and their owners to show? How can this be a bad thing? I know it's off to a
slow start but I think we need to be more encouraging.
