I AM Penny. <G> The Lab folks view the white spots that occasionally
appear the same way we do--no big deal. The white doesn't affect
structure nor does it affect temperament. (You mean we shouldn't
believe everything we read on-line, Kathy? SHOCKED SILENCE.)
I just took a survey of my own dogs:
Izzy: the resident queen (bi-color) small white patch on chest.
(Heavens to Mergatroid, does that make her a tricolor??)
Tee: New man on the block (bi-color) no white.
Plum: My guardian (solid black) no white.
Stoner: Up-coming young sir (black & tan) no white.
Stevie: My whirlwind (black & tan) no white.
The Ghost: Izzy's great niece (solid black) zero white.
And what does all this mean? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

I suppose it would be – I’m still trying to learn all of this myself.
But I remember my purebred Can. gray Timber wolf having this on his
chest. My wonderful pigmented blk/tn didn’t have this spot. I have a
friend in MN who has a very well bred blk GSD with a huge white chest
that looks just horrible on that dark coat! I just read on line that
the breeders don’t want this on their Lab’s at all. Is this true
Penny? Can we believe everything we read on line – maybe not [sigh]
