Subject: [ SHOWGSD-L ] Which bitch would you choose?

Which one would you choose? You have a chance to purchase one of two
bitches, (not from the same litter). Both of these bitches would be bred to
the same male. The imaginary male is an excellent side gaiter with a great
front and rear. Bitch # 1: Beautiful shoulder, Bitch #2: Beautiful back
and topline, great croup and tail set,

While I left out several of the comments on Bitch 1 & 2, I would add it's
always good to start with the best to get the better to strive for the best.
All positive qualities are desirable...but not essential to a successful
breeding.
I would look to the producing capabilities of the bitches lines bred to a
similar or any male. If Bitch 2's lines are producing bred to Rex the Wonder
Dog...I could go with her or vice versa. To me it's all about the lines and
how they produce and such a decision would not necessarily be based on the
phenotype of either bitch.
Good lines, like good dogs do tell. Actually, it's just like the
relationship between Champions of Record and Registers of Merit. You can't
have one without the other yet, (and this is a personal thing) I take a
teensy bit more pride with the ROM's.
Bitch 1 could be a stunner but not come from producing lines. If you go back
in certain lines, you will notice they continue to produce quality dogs and
bitches that in turn produce quality dogs and bitches. Bitch 2 on the other
hand, may not be as eye appealing but have those genes that just keep
giving.
That's how I'd approach it...
