If I could, I would show you the video of me at age 70 as I was running puppies around a large ring I often showed my dogs myself in AB rings that year and the next. I finished Dreamer in an UKC ring at age 72. (Admittedly those ring were pretty darn small and Dreamer was NOT a specialty type dog <G>). The only reason I would consider a smaller dog now, would be that I would want to show it myself at age 77, with knees that the Dr. said "Stop running!" (Darn, how DID I get that old.. hmmmph!) Mind you, today's workout has me as stiff as a board and climbing up the stairs with all my Costco goodies had me just about done for the day and needing to sit down. But, I'm heading out to buy myself a horse again and getting back in the saddle!!! 68 is the perfect age to get a puppy, will have you laughing and giggling at their antics, have you walking many times a day when you wouldn't otherwise. Add a couple of apples a day, everyday, with your new pup's outings and you've got the perfect cholesterol stabilizer! Welcome to the new 40!! Now, lets talk about puppy names. :D Kate @ Rockannand ----- Original Message ----- From: "Helen Franklin" <helenfranklin520@xxxxxxxxx> To: showgsd-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, 18 March, 2013 4:27:22 PM Subject: [ SHOWGSD-L ] When is Old ...to Old It has been several years since my arms have held a GSD in my home. Instead, I have embraced 3 rescue kitties. Now, about to move, I ask myself, am I to old? I long for a GSD, how could I not! But at the age of 68, am I to old? I would have to believe that I will live in good health and strength until age 81. Is that fair? Since both parents were gone by the age of 65, I am already on borrowed time. I must make this decision in the next 30 days........and oh how my heart longs for a dog.....from my nose to my toes............Guess I will let the man upstairs make that decision for me. Hope he finds a place that allows big dogs! Helen Franklin Stormy V.
