There is a wonderful and very comprehensive book called "The Book of the
Bitch". It has EVERYTHING. I especially enjoyed asking for it at Barnes and
Noble. :)

Good morning everyone: In a couple of months, I'll finally be breeding my
"Amber". I've got her future "husband" picked out already, but it's been
quite a few years since I've had my last litter. I used to love to read
"The German Shepherd Today" by Strickland and Moses, especially the part
about whelping litters and building a whelping box. I enjoyed the step by
step pictures. Do you recommend I buy the up to date version of
that one again? Don't even know if I still have my old one anymore. I
have so many old books, Reviews, Redbooks, etc. in storage, but wouldn't
know the first place to even look for them, so that's not an option. So I'm
going to buy myself an early Christmas present. I want to ask all of you
"wise and humble" breeders, which is your favorite book about whelping and
weaning puppies, and the proper care of them and mother.
My "Amber" is precious to me (as I'm sure your girls are to you) and I have
a handsome boy picked out for her, so I want her pups to have a great start
in life. I wasn't a big breeder many years ago and never will be, so each
breeding is carefully planned so I won't find myself having a ton of dogs.
So you more "seasoned" pros, what do you recommend for good reading material
as I sit in the VERY HOT whelping room waiting for the "arrivals". I'm not
looking for a book on genetics.......more on the whelping, weaning and care
