My mentor in this breed won't even clap ringside of any dogs as a judge she
says It's a No No.

Maybe you didn't but I would place a bet that AKC would not approve.
They have proven in the past by suspending judges for doing this that they
will not tolerate it.
As a judge you should know this.

I once told someone at ringside how nice of a dog he had. I was a new
Judge
and didn't know better. My next assignment guess who appears in my ring.
The dog went RWD, but the owner was still very angry with me. I had given
him
false expectations. Not a good thing to do. Best to keep your mouth shut,
was the lesson I learned. JMHO
