Dave,I understand that, and I, too, am honored when some of my posts are
asked to be crossposted (or not asked, and crossposted anyway :-). Gee, you
mean
I wrote something worthy of forwarding??? :-)

But *sometimes*, we know the person to whom we are emailing privately and say
things in such a way that the person receiving knows, and gives a chuckle.
The next person to whom it is forwarded, does NOT know the person and takes
offense, believes it to be rude, or inflammatory, or whatever. THAT, to me,
is
the biggest reason that PRIVATE posts remain private. Sometimes a remark
about another person is a bit personal, and again the receiver knows and
understands. To have that information spread could hurt.

If I post on a list, I expect it to be "free press" :-)
