Certainly. This is the hardest part about breeding. When selecting a stud
dog we always consider:
1. Appropriate for bitch - does he have what she needs.
2. Can he improve upon her structure
3. How old is he, or how long did he live. How long did his parents live.
4. What health problems is he know to throw.
5. What serious or disqualifying faults is he know to throw.
6. Temperament
7. How hard is it to get to him or to get his sperm (we have almost quit
shipping the bitch)
8. Needless to say, OFA numbers would like to see him OFA both ends, for 3
generations.
9. Pedigree and how bitch's pedigree goes with it.
10. Naturally, you need to consider the faults and health problems you
bitch does or might carry.
I have sold few show dogs. OF those I did sell, they went fully guaranteed
in health.
I have sold a lot of companion dogs. I guarantee their health also.
Families invest a tremendous amount of love and emotion into their pets. I
want
to eliminate every possible chance of a genetic problem . If we say we want
to improve the breed, then we MUST consider health factors as well as
structure factors when breeding.
Just the way we do it.
