This is even MORE important that the NON-Californians write, than the CA
residents write. Thank you From California.
You can help us by a call to the Tourism Office, or a fax, or e-mail.

I received the following early in our fight to kill AB1634. We have
permission to cross post and/or use any part of it and to hit the California
Travel and Tourism Commission regarding opposition to Ab1634. The author
request that the information in his letter be altered and updated as
appropriate. He signed it as an officer of an East Coast Agility Club.
This is a letter that out-of-staters could initiate and send to not only the
Senate, but Long Beach and the tourist industry.

California Travel and Tourism Commission DOES want to know why

people go and why they don't go to CA! It's their job to know this and

to entice people to CA to spend their money.... so with that in mind.....

I just called the CA T&TC (919-444-4429) and spoke with Marketing

person Heather Hudson. I told her that I was calling because I realized

CA T&TC would want to know why I personally would not travel to CA in

the future (and I am also looking for a good retirement home-locale---

since my husband died in Jan... I can move anywhere...and I have

considered CA a---very--- little...and only because of good friends

there)... I told her that if AB1634 (Healthy Pet Act) passed, I would

not spend my tourist $$ in CA nor would I consider it a retirement

location for me to move.

She asked why I was calling "her"... I told her that I realized that she

and her organization took a drop in tourism dollars seriously. And to

be able to predict that drop to the governor/government as it relates to

this bill, their concerns carry some weight. I told her that I and

many friends and others I have heard about won't go to CA if this

passes.... So please take the info to those in the government and ask

that this act be killed. I also told her I can't vote for the

government there, but I can vote with my tourist and retirement $$'s.

And I will.

Heather was a very nice young lady... I just hope with many more phone

calls, she will take the information higher... I know my friends in

Tourism here in my state want to know WHY people would refuse to come to

visit us here. So, make those calls folks... :-)

I was told by the receptionist at the CA T&TC office that lots of emails

regarding AB 1634 are being printed out to be taken to the home office,

too... so send opposition emails to web@visitcalifornia
<mailto:web%40visitcalifornia.com> .com .... we

*can* vote with our dollars and be heard. :-)

This is a link to CA Travel and Tourism Commission . I would

suggest out of state and in State people flood them with Boycott CA

Tourism if AB1634 is passed. e mails

About California Travel and Tourism Commission

* California Travel & Tourism Commission (CTTC) is a

not-for-profit, 501(C)(6) corporation formed in 1998 to work jointly

with the State of California's Division of Tourism to implement the

annual Marketing Plan, which promotes California as a travel

destination. While these two partners (CTTC and Division of Tourism)

are separate legal entities, they are commonly referred to jointly as

California Tourism.

Ms Heather Hudson,

Marketing Manager

California Travel and Tourism Commission

Dear Ms. Hudson,

We recently heard about a proposed bill "AB 1634" called The Healthy Pets
Act. I am President of a large canine Agility Club and also a member of ARBA
(American Rare Breeds Association) and other canine organizations. We travel
throughout the country, including California, putting on or participating in
various canine events and shows. Last year, our club spent over $275,000 in
travel expenses, not including lodging and tourism expenses.

If AB 1634 passes in any form, we will have to eliminate California as one
state to decline our participation in shows and events.

We hope you and your associates study this bill quite thoroughly and present
your findings and recommendations for opposition, to the Governor and
members of the California Legislature as soon as possible.

We urge immediate action, as this bill is upcoming for another vote in a
week or so.

We reference:

and the amended bill as of April 30th:

Although the bill currently seems to allow out-of-state- animals a "pass" on
compliance during a visit, that indeed, is not the true legal fact.
Moreover, those "passes" for out-of state animals expires in January 2009.

"Show" animals and other canine and feline breeds and future "status", if
spayed/neutered at the bills' required month of age, will not be either as
healthy, nor be able to be certified for such future use.

These are but a very few of reasons for opposition to this bill. Please
examine the full and open documentation available on the above
www.ab1634.com

Sincerely,

(Your name)
