I love the breed and how they react! Was just having Spunky tested to become a
therapy dog. One of the "tests" was to walk a big dog, then a small dog by the
tested dogs. The big dog was an older, male German Shepherd. As he walked by
the 3 other dogs, he just did his usual saunter. As he got by Spunky, he threw
his head up and his stance grew more regal. Spunky was just sitting there, and
his head went up, as if to say, I'm hot stuff too. All the testers cracked up.
The GSD's were posturing for each other. When SPunky and I walked the Susan G.
Komen this year, there were alot of dogs. As we passed by all the different
breeds, no big deal. Anytime Spunk saw a GSD, he would automatically go into
the show dog stack stance. He was just showing off! That being said, I'm
thinking you come up with some great questions, and my response would be the
owner's of GSD need to have alot of self-confidence, to stay ahead of this
breed!

that certain dogs suit a certain type of personality. I just sat in my
vet's office this morning and it was packed with mostly dogs and a few
cats. I seen dogs of all sizes, from a tiny tea cup Yorkie to a
muscular Rottie who was being held by his owner on some sort of chain
that looked like the kind you hook up to cars and you pull them with. I
mean we're talking about a serious heavy, hunk of chain here! And he
had this huge clip attached to his very thick, wide collar. I mean he
was giving out the serious message that this was a "Bad A-- Dog! Or
maybe it was the owners who wanted us to think that way. Then there
was the hyper mixed breed fellow who never stopped whining and crying
and trying to greet every dog that walked through the door. I concluded
to myself, "No wonder this guy is so nervous and hyper and never sits
still, he lives in a home with 4 very vocal young kids, and a mother who
never stopped yelling at one of her overly rambunctious boys. On more
then one occasion, she says to her son, "If you don't stop this minute,
you're going out in the car", while pinching him when she thought no one
was looking. I mean this is the same kid that couldn't stop teasing my
dog and she would have liked to help put him in that car herself!!!
hehehe! The only one who seemed passive was the father of this very
"lively" family! Aww......it makes one feel like having kids again!!!
LOL! Anyway, what kind of person do you think owns a German Shepherd
Dog? Better yet, what type of personality is best suited to owning our
