Oh, I 'dunno.  Ever been to a National?  It can take 2-3  times around for 
the dogs to settle in let alone get the handlers and double  handlers on the 
same page.  Plus, if they aren't put together right in the  first place, on the 
2nd, 3rd, 4th lap is when you see the holes in them.
 
All of the Specials are Champions.  I would think, out of respect for  people 
who have traveled a great distance and spend a heck of a lot of money,  you 
would give their entry not only a chance to warm up and to shine, but to  allow 
the crowd a chance to see something they like, a nick they may want to  
incorporate in their own breeding program.
 
You don't wait all year for one lap.
 
How disappointing for  the competitors.  JMHO.
