Chris, thanks for the info, very sad, this was the most scarry thing we have
ever see at the dog shows, The flames were high, smoke so bad you could not
see the van. Fire was located outside of the Pavilion Hall on the right had
side tow...ard the back, we heard at least two explosion's, a mobile home
owner said that she heard dogs screaming. Took awhile for the fire
department to get there, We saw Tracy Olsen run to her rigg to get a fire
extinguester, when I saw Tracy coming back from the fire her face told me
the story, she looked sooooo very said, and said that a dog was burned. I do
not know who the owners of the van were.
Ruled an Engine Fire
It was a fire that started on it's own in the engine compartment, per the
fire department NOT due to any human error or irresponsibility..
LYnne it is only due to very fast actions of all the people at the dog show
that it was not a much worse incident... People ran from all corners of the
show and started yanking dogs out of crates even though flames where
shooting out of the... van..
My good friend's box van was right behind and the back doors were too hot to
touch to get in to her box so someone climbed in through an open window,
found her keys and moved her rig so thankfully her dogs were safe and her
rig too...
This is a very sad reminder that we should ALL carry at least one if not two
indate working fire extinguishers on our rigs at all times in case we need
to help put out a fire... People ran from all over the grounds with their
extinguishers and that helped keep the fired contained.
THere are nasty rumors flying that the owner of the van left a cigarette or
a space heater going and caused the fire, this is NOT TRUE! The fire
department said the source of the fire came from the electrical box area in
the engine compartment.
