Well, you know what? The Peke WAS, to paraphrase what you said about the
others, a spectacular specimen and representative of HIS BREED. He was a
proper mover; a good mover.
One Lister stated that she didn't know the standard, but criticized Malachy's
structure!! And, as was pointed out to her by a judge on the List, she was
quite incorrect in her un-knowledgeable critique! She was criticizing him for
possessing traits of his standard!! Reminded me of the novice people I talk to
at shows who criticize our GSD's for their sloping toplines and rear
angulation!!! DUH!!!!
The Peke was a better specimen of a DOG than some GSD's I see winning, at both
our National and at all-breed shows. At least he didn't cringe with fear of
the judge!!! He was neither dyed nor drugged.
Criticize the breed if you don't like it, but, not the individual dog that
epitomizes what his standard DEMANDS!!
Now I know, yet again, how elitist, cruel, and rude some GSD people can be.
BTW, I rooted for them all, especially the GSD, the Irish Setter, the Dobie (my
favorite), and the Peke......all correct "specimens and representatives" of
their breeds, IMHO.
