And I was just reminded of the new(ish) and awesome Antelope Valley
Fairgrounds. In October, there is no fog, getting cooler, some good new hotels
close by. Traffic once you get out of the valley is minimal, you can take time
to enjoy the most interesting views.

It’s a little over an hour from LAX, a few minutes more from Ontario, a short
hop from Burbank (no 500 crates, of course, there). Herding is a given
anywhere in the valley. Too many good restaurants to count within 10-30
minutes of the site.

If one is going to look at all venues, don’t forget those that don’t make the
tourist brochures <G>

And, I for sure! would go to that one!. I could even put up a few people and
dogs 25 minutes away from the Fairgrounds! <G>

Getting to Del Mar is just as easy as anywhere else these days. With Los
Angeles International (yes there are traffic problems just as there are at
any MAJOR airport), Orange County (John Wayne) (a tad bit better), Ontario
International (was recently there picking up a show judge and the place was
EMPTY! Literally so where I could sit at the curb and wait) and then of
course there is the San Diego International Airport.
Distance by time to Del Mar:

LAX - 2hrs to 3 hrs. depending on traffic.....and of course route as there
are multiple freeway access routes
Orange County - 45 minutes to an hour
Ontario - 2hrs to 2 and a half hours
San Diego - 45 minutes

I have not researched the current hotels, as they have changed from before.

No one has said any such thing. The site selection is still in the very
beginning stages.
Let's not start rumors, and give the board and people involved a chance to do
the research before we
start with the conjecture. Nothing has been ruled "in" or "out". However we
are unlikely to revisit Del Mar due to the high cost
of the area, and the lack of ability to get there, by air , easily.

Oregon was very very nice!... Is Vegas out? The South Pointe Casino is
fabulous they have everything! Including a horse arena where they hold rodeos

this place years ago! Ed

From what I have "heard" a location in Arizona has not been found and "they"
say California is too expensive and no one from the West Coast has come forth
with any locations for the show chair to check out. Don't know if this is all
true.....Just what I have been told.
