I can see no reason to pull this up and spend a small fortune on sod.

What we need to undestand is that Bill with the board works hard to make
sure we have the best national we can have. They try to give everything they
can to the membership, and they even go the extra mile to find ways to cut
costs, and to add extra events.

However, that being said, Bill has to work with the reality that we have
lost money in the past few years, and we no longer have a prudent reserve. We
were advised by our financial experts that the club should always have in
reserve one years budget, that is about $800,000.00. We used to have that,
and we now have less than half.

Bill is working with restrictions. He is trying to please the membership
and at the same time reflect the necessity of our club. That is a fine line.
If he cuts things, we will scream that without it we won't enter, and then
the club will suffer. If he tries to give us everything we want, the club
will suffer more loses.

Expenses, like flooring, have to be balanced by the costs as well as the
needs of not only those who enter, but those who are trying to protect the
future finances of our club. It is a difficult situation and with 20 board
members and over 2,000 club members I know the solution can be found. It
is probably a little of each and less of both.

Will one school scream or the other? Yes. But that blance has to be met,
and everyone needs to understand that the first function of the GSDCA is to
exist. When I suggested that if we lose money on the National, that we no
longer hold it, I did not hear one person blast me. They should have, but I
understand why everyone stopped, thought about it, and didn't respond.
Reality is a difficult thing, and as Adams said in defense of the British,
"Facts are stubborn things."

I trust Bill and the board, and I expect they will solve the conflict. I
won't like it all, and a few may notl be happy, but everyone will
understand with open discussions and transparency what is necessary.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.
