I had well water for 15 years on my hobby farm in MN. The water was
fantastic. All of my horses, cattle, chickens, GSDs & humans did well on
that water. The taste of that water was like no other. I miss it. I even had
friends/relatives collect our water to take back home with them. But we
always tested to make sure the water was pure. That's something that needs
to be done when living around farming communities, mining, etc. Then after
some years we had friends buy about 30 acres about 20 miles from our farm.
They found out later the well water on that land was poison. Why wasn't that
tested before they bought the land. Dealing with pesticides, worming,
vaccinations, city or well water, swimming in dirty water, etc., that our
dogs are exposed too plus negative genes can all add up to something . Then
there are just plane accidents with our animals too. So when our dogs live
to be a ripe old age this is a total blessing for all. If you have well
water test it often. Kathy Partch www.JoKaySedona.com

Subject: Re: longevity

I've often wondered if well water has anything to do with some of the
digestive problems we are seeing in the Breed...

Several years ago, we bought a new house that was built on old farm

land. Periodically, we would get red clay dirt in the water. Two of

our dogs died of problems related to the gall bladder and pancreas. I

was afflicted with the same problems myself.

I've always wondered if the our ground water was contaminated with the

fertilizers that were used on the property year after year. Could this

have caused the digestive problems in the dogs and myself?

At one time, I was interested in conducting a survey regarding dogs on

well water. I'm not an environmental engineer, but we do have one in

the family. Does anyone think that the well water thing is worth exploring?
