Actually, two separate projects are being undertaken by two separate (but
equal!) committees. Since both ideas were mine, maybe this led to some
confusion. The Welcoming Commitee operates year round and is a Membership
Committee project. Dania has designated people who personally contact new
members residing within their futurity region as soon as their membership has
been approved. This project did get temporarily sidetracked in all of the
membership hoopla of the last year, but Dania has recently reassured everyone
that we will soon be up and running again. We needed to wait to see how any
changes in membership procedure might effect what we do.
The Welcome Waggin', a Public Relations Committee Project, is a project
associated with our National only. This will be its first year of operation,
under the direction of Cyndy Davis-Public Relations Committee Chair. It will
be a booth designed to assist and welcome everyone. It should be of particular
help to first timers and//or people who feel a lack of connection to the whole
thing. We will meet and greet, answer questions, help people get acquainted,
and provide a message board. Several of you have already kindly volunteered to
spend some time at the Welcome Waggin'. I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM MORE OF YOU
WHO WOULD BE WILLING TO DONATE TIME TO THIS EFFORT!!!! Please email me
privately if you would be willing to schedule 30 minutes or more at the Welcome
Waggin'. More on this in a separte post soon.

This committee (Zoa's idea) falls under Public Relations (if it's what Dania
is talking about). We've spent this year building a foundation since no one
really did PR last year, and are going to have a Welcome Wagon (Waggin') at
the Nationals to greet all first-timers and help them get oriented, have
pictures of breeders in attendance, and give those breeders (any of you) an
opportunity to talk about your dogs, your activities with them be it
herding, agility, conformation, obedience, Schutzhund, etc.
I'm very excited about this - and if you want to volunteer to work the
booth, be the papparazi (we provide the Polaroid) or want to show off your
dogs, email Zoa and I.
It's going to be a lot of fun, and very informative!
