During the long drive home, I was talking to others about the process for
electing judges for the National.

The challenge is to allow everyone input with respect to the matters
pertinent to the function of the club ( including the election of officers
and National judges), yet balancing the value of the vote against the
interest, knowledge and involvement of those in the sport, without
disenfranchising anyone.

So, instead of the weighted ballot(which could still be maintained in my
proposal), I was thinking about a weighted vote.  
Each member has a full vote (say 1 point) and a 1/2 vote (.5) to use as they
like.  They can give a full vote(s)
to the judge(s) in only one category (i.e. performance) and the 1/2 vote in
the other category (conformation). The actual layout of the ballot 
could be designed to ensure the least amount of confusion and to ensure
adherence to the process.  

I believe every member should have the opportunity to vote. Voting should
not be restricted to those who can attend a National or a meeting. If you
pay your dues, you should have a right to have your voice heard in how the
club is run and who (what judges) will influence the direction of the breed
through conformation and performance events.
