No. From what I was told the Committee decided not to put their names on
the slate.
It is a decision made by a committee appointed by the President. It is up
to them to present to the membership those names they feel should be
considered for the board. At times they list everyone on the board that wants
to
serve again, and at times they list those people they would rather see on
the list.
I asked one time why we even have a proposed slate and the answer was that
without it, if no one ran, there would be nothing to vote on. I think that
makes sense.
As I understand it Laura, Zoe and Carol will be or can be on the slate by
petition. You, the members, can then decide to put them back on the board,
or replace them with the list provided by the committee.
The Committee also listed Bill Pfeiffer for treasurer, deciding not to list
Nadine Grady who is the current treasurer. I have been told that Nadine
will run by petition. So, we will have at least two candidates to choose
from.
It is up to the committee and the head of the committee to make that
decision. This year I understand Gary was the chairman, and it was his
leadership that gave us the great list of names we initially saw. There will
be
additional choices when the slate is provided.
Again, we need to appreciate the job our board does, and those like Gary
who work so hard for the club. While we may not agree with the results at
times, it does not diminish the effort, hard work and dedication they provide.
