I thought the conference call was a very good venue, from what I've heard.
Everyone got to speak their mind in turn, no one was excluded or
interrupted, and I am guessing that people spoke that typically would not,
so I think that's a good thing.

Could be that the board knows more about this than I do - most people do, of
course. But we just flew three judges into our shows last month and all of
them were more than $500.00. Possibly the fares have gone down since then.
But this is only part of the problem....
1. The cost of the board is only a small item overall, as Evan has said. The
greater issues are that all of us, from the board on down (oh, excuse me, I
believe power comes from the people, so I should say, from the bottom up) is
that we are in an economic situation that threatens to do damage to us all.
2. According to one of the reports from the GSDCA President, we are in
reasonably good shape as a club, and there is no immediate danger, but Frank
is not president of the USA (not usca as in schutzhund, but USA as in The U.
S. of A.) and what affects our economy affects our members and thus the club
overall.
3. The registration reports from AKC still show our sport is in danger, or
is it endangered? People still love animals (sorry HSUS) but they are not
necessarily going for the high priced spread.
All of these things affect us.
So, I thank the board for thinking in terms of our long range welfare in
cutting expenses, rather than ignoring the reality of life in the now, or
trying to spend our way out of debt as our government seems to be trying to
do. I suppose we could print our own money - just think, a GSD on the face
of the trillion dollar bill.... By then it will only buy a cup of coffee!
