[ SHOWGSD-L ] Way OT...Computer woes

Hi Guys
Okay here are the basics
Have 3 y/o Sony Vaio (first mistake) PC
Have Windows XP Home
Have issues with opening some zip and mov files (anything compressed)
Doing so starts every window and the desktop underneath FLASHING to the
point where the only solution is
a hard shut down. Can't open nice zips or mov to see people's lovely dogs,
you know?
Have McAffee , McAffee says everything is ducky........yeah right.
AAAAACK.
Anyone have any answers?
Kathy who is going to throw the computer out the bloody "Windows" lol
