SO many places the Board could spend their time and the Club money besides
tinkering
with our Standard!! The membership did not request or even 'murmur' for
any changes
to the Standard. This request had to come from someone on the Board.
If our Parent Club is literally REDUCED to this kind of action because of a
couple
of Board members and NOT the needs and concerns of the membership and local
Clubs
for better PR and Nationals that exhibitors can get to easily it certainly
will not
bode well for a huge renewal of membership.
...Can any Board member explain to some of us WHY changing the Standard to
literally
REVERSE what was voted on by the membership will improve the Breed and the
concerns
of the membership?? Can anyone explain why long coats are suddenly
PROMOTED...with
EXTRA classes at the National?? THE NATIONAL!?
...Does the Board REALLY think all the members and breeders and exhibitors
were too
STOOOPID in 1968 to understand what they were doing when they voted for the
white DQ??
To really improve the Standard .... make anything other than a black nose
and all
blues, livers, pandas, brindles AND whites a DQ... along with any attempt to
bite
the judge and undershot jaw and docked tails. AND DONE!
To increase a membership...be concerned about what the membership wants.
The things
the membership has always been united on is better PR and Education about
the GSD
and Nationals that are easy to get to for EVERYONE AND their dogs. Pretty
basic.

Nancy, The solution is simple IF you believe that the only true interest is
how to fill the coffers then the only language that will be understood is to
not support the direction the club is going with your yearly membership
dues and other monetary contributions. For some, especially folks such as
yourself that have dedicated so much of your time and efforts to the GSDCA
this is extreme, but sometimes you have to do what is extreme so that those
in charge will get the point. As the adage goes, money talks, and so does a
lack of it! Christine

Shepherds, just like breeders (?) of the white Shepherds did WAAAAYYYY back
when they
were advertised in "DOG WORLD" in the late 50d's and early 60'ds, as THE
RARE AND
BEAUTIFUL WHITE GS. (yes, I am dating myself here),
Think of all the new members we could gather, think of all the money that
would be put in
the Coffers of the GSDCA. After all, our treasury is THE MOST IMPORTANT
THING isn't it?
Somehow I can't remember the GSDCA offering more education, having better
judges, better
Nationals or our breed leaping forward with great improvements when we had
all that money.
But then again, as stated previously, I am getting "up there" and maybe my
memory is just
failing me. If I live that long, I don't know if I will be able to
recognize the NEW GERMAN
SHEPHERD in the future.

This was fixed as the AKC pointed out the discrepancy Blues, blacks and
whites are
listed as serious faults Albino dogs are disqualified.
Also removed by AKC request was an AKC rule - DOgs that attempt to bite the
judge must be disqualified
There were no changes made to the head or any other changes
