I'm getting kinda sick of this...the ARistas are obviously going state
by state. Now it's in Washington-- and this is UP TO THE MINUTE STUFF,
FOLKS!

Ladies and Gentlemen:
Washington HB 1016, the "Deeds Not the Breeds" Bill, is now moving
through the Washington Legislature. It was placed on the calendar today
for its second reading. On the third reading, it will be voted upon by
the full Washington House of Representatives.
We can expect that vote some time next week. The sponsors of HB 1016,
which prevents insurance carriers from breed-profiling when making their
decision to insure or to renew a homeowners' policy, have been working
extremely hard to gather the necessary support to ensure its passage
through the House.
Last year, the same bill (then HB 1895) passed the House by a margin of
91-3. This year, the state House Republicans have suddenly reversed
course, even those who voted for it last year. There may be quite a
battle on the floor of the House.
The entire pure-bred dog fancy is looking to this bill as the first in a
series of steps to take anti-breed profiling legislation throughout the
United States. It is very important that the members of the Washington
House receive your phone calls and e-mails urging them to pass HB 1016,
the "Deeds Not the Breeds" bill.
