Evan,
I respect your thoughts, but have to somewhat disagree. First, I did not say
that we vote in a board to follow everything we say. I said "to represent us,
our passions, beliefs, cultures etc." It would be impossible for any board
member to vote each and every voice that he or she represents. However, when
the very nature of our organization and existence is for the value, promotion,
and passion for well-bred, cared for pure bred GSD's, then I believe that our
membership has the right to expect a certain level voice through it's elected
board representatives, when it comes to a situation like this.
I agree that a board members job is difficult and sometimes, impossible. What
I said earlier was just that the members demand, expect and deserve answers
when questions arise. A good board member will always communicate with it's
members and be willing to be held accountable for their decisions and votes.
Personally, if a board member will Communicate and have Accountability, I will
vote for them just about every time, even if I disagree on an issue or two. I
may be wrong, but I suspect move of our members feel the same way.
And, to answer your challenge, I would be more than happy to run for the board
when the time is right.

No. We vote in a board to represent us, not to follow everything we say.
Our directors should listen to us, listen to all sides of an issue, then vote
the way they believe is going to be best for our club, our breed and we the
members.
We do not put in a board member to listen to us, and vote as we would. We
hope to put in directors of character, honesty and passion. We want them to
consider all sides of any question, then try their best to do the right thing.
If you want to have the final voice, run for the board, then you can decide
how to vote on every issue. You will decide if what the members have said is
right, or if you find information that they did not have, and therefore, you
have to vote otherwise.
It is a difficult job at best and impossible at worst.
