rephrase: canto's daughters could pass on the gene for hemophilia to 50% of
their daughters. his sons could never pass it on as they could not inherit it
from him as it is sex linked.
i have traced many pedigrees back to canto before buying a female and it's
pretty easy to just avoid canto on the female side and only the direct female
side if one worries about it.
