My dad in listed in the Marine Corp. in 1949 after dropping out of college due to financial reasons. At that time the Marines were segregated. He reached the rank of Sargent and became a Dill Instructor. He returned to college after his discharge from the Marines. He worked for the Alameda County Probation Department for 32 Years retiring in 1991. He also taught criminology classes at Merritt College in Oakland for five years. He died in August of 2003 before I received my teaching credential. He was proud but not happy I chose a law-enforcement career like he did. My dad had a lot of flaws just like his oldest son. He grew up in a world much different than his children. He loved dogs! he grew up with bird dogs and his grand-father is in the bird-dog Hall of Fame. In the early 70's my dad trained protection dogs. He enjoyed my success with my only AKC conformation Champion. On my way to place a flag on his grave. God bless all our Veterans both past and present. Tomorrow my students will hand me letters that they have written thanking our troops for their service to US Ed Hill ============================================================================ POST is Copyrighted 2012.
