It has been great that so many have commented so much about the health problem 
of Degenerative Mylopathy. 
In the field of human medicine we see and hear a lot of hypothesis - opinions 
on many subjects with many different answers as to the etiology and potential 
remedy.
Generally when so many have so many different thoughts it means no one has 
a"pat hand".
My opinion on DM and "us Shepherd folks" is we should do what we as individuals 
think is best BUT when a very positive answer comes that is reproducible then 
everyone will agree and do what is proper.
I had a wonderful male many years ago that developed the problem and the expert 
at that time was Dr. Clemons in Florida.
I made contact and we did what he thought would help-AMINOCAPROIC ACID-(AMICAR) 
but the end result was the same. Perhaps it helped some but???
When a gene for a problem is so complex it is difficult to get a proper answer 
until more research is done--while we wait use best judgement and test BUT test 
where and by whom???
We have a speaker for our education program who was contracted by the then 
Chair of the EDu Committee-Helen Gleason-she has a definite opinion and there 
are others who conflict with her thoughts. I am sorry that we cannot have both 
speakers but I am sure you understand economic constraint--the Committee has a 
VERY small allocation for the entire year and we have many projects in the 
pipe-line and not enough money even for those things.
I think the speaker will be very interesting and I am sure will entertain a Q 
and A period after her lecture.
