Thanks to everyone who sent me suggestions on treating the mastitis...We may have turned the corner. Her temp reached 104.5 yesterday afternoon and was 102.9 by late evening. It is 102 now. The rock hard gland has softened and shrunk slightly. Several people suggested cabbage leaves â canât say that is what has made the difference, but she has had 4 applications now. I do a warm compress, express the teat, and then put cool cabbage leaves on and wrap with brown gauze and crate her for about an hour. Pups are nursing on the unaffected teats, though mom tires of them quickly. Pups are eating puppy gruel with a little goat milk and boiled liver water added. She is still taking the Clavamox. Well, itâs time for another warm compress... Carrie & Oak Smith Oak Ridge German Shepherds Signers: G.S.D.C.A.
