[ SHOWGSD-L ] Update on Last Hope....long but PLEASE read!

Wanted to give the list an update on what has been happening! We are growing
in leaps and bounds, with new members every day! We have had many offers of
transport, funding, even a GSD Watch to be raffled off at the List party!
Anyone else wishing to make a donation for an auction, please contact one of us!
Again, our final goal with this effort is to find that one green valley, with
rolling hills and maybe a creek for our beloved dogs to play in...The sign over
the gate will read "Journeys End...".....as their journey in this life has been
fraught with sorrow, pain and suffering. Here they shall suffer no more. Their
wounds will be tended, their broken hearts mended and the light that was robbed
from them by humans shall once again shine in their eyes. This will not be
accomplished overnight; it is a herculean task to say the least...but as I have
said before and bears repeating "the journey of a thousand miles begins with a
single step"...We have taken that first step...
To leave such a legacy for our beloved dogs when THIS generation is at an end
would be our way of repaying our GSDs for all they have given us...loyalty,
protection, seeing eyes when ours could not....They have given us all they have
to give...do we owe them any less?
In the last few months, these are just SOME of the dogs that this list has
donated to save!
Titus: pulled from Murray County Ga. shelter by Ginger Cleary ...is adopted in
Georgia; went to Terri Steinbecker who found him a home.
Murphy; Murfreesobo Tenn. shelter, into boarding and is adopted by Wanda
Barzizzi in Tenn.
Chelsea ; owner surrender to Ginger Cleary.. is at the Bridge due to stage 4
heartworm..till we meet again sweet angel...
Shandra; pulled from Walker County in Ga 11th hr...went to Ginger for foster
and then to GSRCNY... adopted thru GSRCNY..THANKS PAT!!!
Gretchen; Walker county with Shandra...went to Southern Cross GSD Rescue in
Western NC.
Lucky: Walker County with Shandra and Gret...adopted by Pam Cheatham in Ga.
Buddy:black lab who was lifepartner to Gret...also went to Southern Cross GSD
rescue; Molly Moncure Pres.Molly's husband is a pilot and these dogs were FLOWN
home at her expense!.
Blake..pulled by STARS rescue in Augusta Ga, went to Jarnee via Pauline Moon's
transport effort, then to Barb Hefner to NH show...met by Joanne Conboy and Jan
Weatherbee....was adopted by Tom Hickey in Ct. Talk about circuitious!
Alex is in foster in Knoxville Tenn.(needs out by thursday..anyone who could
offer him a safe haven we would be MOST grateful.)
Faith, an emaciated momma is safe with Jodi, another member of Last Hope!
Racheal; legally adopted to get her out by Kris Short yesterday...still in the
shelter till wed.. is going to Ga. Canine Res. and Rehab. Heather Zaretsky has
been helping with our GSDs even tho she is an ALL BREED rescue!
Rook; Central Indiana shelter... is with Shery Scott, heading to Kristi Jacobs
of Steppenwolf Kennel!!! THANKS KRISTI!!!!
Rocko is with Kristi and has potential adopters comming this weekend!
Abby is with Jean McCann heading to Kristis..
The 2 in Va and the one in Ohio are up in the air right now..
Cooper: Rural Hall NC. shelter, into boarding and transported by
Anywherepetsgo.com as a courtesy...now is in foster care with Julie in Holly
Hill SC..
All these lives could have ended up tragically in a gas chamber, IP'd or
heartstuck...very few facilities use humane euthanization methods...Some have
been accused of diluting the fatal blue solution, meaning that the dogs take
hours to cross over instead of the few seconds with IV drugs.
As you all know, without the financial support of people such as yourselves,
this effort will not be able to continue! The holiday weekend is comming, which
is a death knell for any dogs left behind on Friday. The facilities do not want
to have the responsiblity of caring for these poor waifs over a holiday
weekend, therefore the majority are destroyed.
We are frantically searching the petfinder sites for GSDs and trying every
avenue open to us to get them out! PLEASE remember to send in your
