[ SHOWGSD-L ] Update on Jake

The power of prayers and good thoughts are amazing. First, let me thank 
everyone 
for their kind words & thoughts. Jake's fever broke during the night and he is 
a 
different dog. The Vet did an ultrasound of his entire body and found no masses 
or abnormalities. Wanted to rule out cancer.  He was thinking possibly 
pancreatitis (sp). but found no evidence of it. We are still at a lose for what 
spiked the fever other than the pain of the hock. After further X-Rays today we 
are leaning more towards a severely sprained hock as the split that we saw on 
Friday on the X-Ray has now closed up.  Jake is on some "heavy duty" 
antibiotics 
and a strong anti-inflammatory drug. He lost 6 pounds during this episode and 
we 
are still having to coax him to eat alittle but he did enjoy the bowl of boiled 
ground beef I just gave him with a little scrambled egg. He went out in the 
yard 
with his "Maligator" sister and  seemed to enjoy just being able to bear some 
weight on his hock. He almost acted like he wanted to play. He is now taking a 
nap in the middle of the living room with Kala next to him. It is amazing how 
attached dogs get to one another. 
The Dr. wants to see an improvement everyday, so I am to call daily with a 
report.
