It's now reported as an African Lion (big cat with big mane). The local sanctuary has done four head-counts and they're not missing any cats. They're on hand with tranq guns. I can see the trucks and police chopper about 3/4 mile northeast of me. My property goes a half mile to the north, so they're pretty close to the house, really. The lion was spotted chasing dogs a few minutes ago, but they've lost sight of it again. I've called work a few times with animal-related reasons for being late (loose llamas spooking my horses, puppies being born, etc), but this one probably takes the cake. At least the local news websites are reporting on it so the bosses do know I'm not making this up! The dogs (aka lionbait) can cry, but they're NOT going outside right now. I have considered calling some Ridgeback friends and asking them if they want to hunt test their hounds! (kidding!)
