[ SHOWGSD-L ] Unusual cancer in cat--OT

My Maine Coon cat, DeGoonacoon Mackinaw of Shasta Coon ("Mack") has been 
diagnosed with sarcoid cancer.  My vet says this is a very unusual 
cancer for a cat.  He says it is caused by a papillomavirus. It is 
usually found in horses. He found only two references to this cancer in 
cats and both of those cats were barn cats.

Mack is ten years old, female, spayed.  She is an indoor only cat. About 
two years ago, she was diagnosed with skin allergies and has received 
shots about every two months during the allergy season (spring thru 
fall). Other than the allergies, she has had no other illnesses.

The cancer is in her mouth and involves all of her mouth.  My vet knows 
of no treatment.  He will discuss with people at UC Davis Vet School to 
see if there are any options.

I am wondering if any of you may had heard of this cancer, may know of 
any treatment, or at the very least, what Mack and I have ahead of us.

To make this German Shepherd related, Mack is an accomplished trainer of 
German Shepherds.  Her skills are such that it only takes a look and 
German Shepherds submit to her will.
