[ SHOWGSD-L ] Re: Ununited Elbow question

I'm hoping someone on the list might have some suggestions for treatment of
an ununited elbow.
This is an 11 yr old pet of mine. At age 10, approximately, he started
showing severe pain out of the clear blue. We did an x-ray looking for bone
cancer originally, since he never limped a day in his life. The elbow
diagnosis was a surprise. Well it's six months later, he has deteriorated
greatly. He's on Glucosamine/Chondroitin, was taking an insane amount of
Rimadyl, so a few days ago we did a cortisone shot to try to help.
Absolutely no improvement. This a really healthy 11 yr old dog, and I'd
like to try something else, but my vet feels he's too old and too arthritic
for any type of surgery. Are there any other options my vet isn't aware of.
