I DO agree with you the show is about entertainment, education , too. You
can have neither without keeping interest. Last year in Ft Collins there were
glaring huge vacancies in the stands, even for the senior classes....it is the
delay, zzzzzzzzzzz. It is more of a problem each year.
But this is not the first show to take a LOOOONG time with not so many
exhibitors.
I can't believe that is would be correct to lay the blame solely at the
judges' feet each year? Lets look at time between classes. Let's look at the
Amateur futurity and why that is even necessary? It doesn't work on a local
level , so why is it necessary for the National level? Lets see where we can
cut unnecessary delay.
Our entries , and actual participants were AN ALL TIME LOW this year....and
still it took FOUR DAYS?
I have watched judges zip handlily through classes, and some take awhile...in
years past. But the majority of the delay lies OUTSIDE the ring, in between
classes, waiting, waiting waiting.
Why...anyone have any answers? Seriously
As far as judging procedure, if it is not what we think it should be there
are many avenues, take it up with the PC, the AKC or just don't vote for that
person again. But the public lambasting of Nationals judges has in my opinion
gotten worse, with interestingly nothing coming from it., except maybe making a
few feel better, heck I don't know.....JMO. I would be more interested in
hearing from
JUDGES that were there , or have stood in the middle of that big ring, and
their ideas on it, rather than people that have never done it.
I remember very well in 2005 that was ADMONISHED for publicly thanking Mr
Downing for the Select 2 he gave to Sel Ch Azeri , by someone that apparently
didn't appreciate his judging.
I was asked why would I thank him?????? Funny, I thought it was just good
manners to do so. Still think so. Sure didn't expect to get grief for THANKING
someone for a Sel 2. Incredible.

strong enough to sand up to such scrutiny. this is less of a discussion about
the judges and judging, but a discussion about how to make the process better
for everyone... the exhibitors as well as the spectators.. this is a SHOW after
