[ SHOWGSD-L ] UAP and Arthritus

I have a bitch that was bought for showing that has these problems.  She
was diagnosed with UAP in both elbows and arthritis in both wrists.  The
vet said her x-rays looked like a 10 year old dog and she was only 1 ½
years old.  We started her on Metacam and we had her spayed.  
At first she got Metacam each day, then every other and it gradually
tapered down.  We did have her tested annually because it can affect
liver functions but she did well on it.  She is now 7 and hasn?t needed
any for about 6 months. 
 
I guess some cases are worse than others.  It might have to do with
where the actual UAP ends up???
