I would use as big an excercice pen as you can get in the back. Fill it with
shavings. Put in a water and a food bucket near the door which should be facing
the tail gate or door. Put in a smaller crate for her to sleep in and leave the
door open. Plastic bags and a plastic cat litter scoop.
You could travel all the way without having to worry about her touching germy
grounds and just scoop and fill the containers. Put a padlock on it if you
leave it open when stopping.

Subject: [ SHOWGSD-L ] Transporting a new puppy
I am going to pick up a 9 wk old Bitch next week.? It is 1050 miles one way.
? I have never transported a 9 wk old puppy that far.? I would appreciate any
tips.? We will be traveling in a pick up truck with a camper shell, insulated
walls and a carpet.? Is it better to use a full size crate or a small crate?? I
am going to bring my male with me.? He is a very calm dog and I think will be a
calming influence on her.? What about feeding the puppy????? How often should
we stop for her to potty?????
