I cannot understand anyone letting their dog go anywhere
with a handler, especially if the handler is taking a number
of dogs. If I or my husband couldn't go with the dog, the
dog didn't go. My dogs meant more to me than any win. Also
I think the handlers should sleep in the vans with the dogs.
Also I don't believe this gals story, even the vet says
something does not sound right. Their was no excuse
for this. Nancy Godwin

I have no complete knowledge of what TRULY happened with this handler and
the dogs in her care, except what we now know, tragically.

HOWEVER..........while I agree that I would LOVE to be at every show my
dogs go to (and we have managed that for the most part)........In the past we
have sent dogs out to train and show and I can stand here and tell you
today that these handlers, namely Gregg Eschette and Donna Calabrese, not only
took excellent care of my dogs, the dogs LOVED these guys. For many years
after TJ remember Gregg, and to this day Dexter loves the attention he gets
from Donna, Olivia, Leslie and Jamie.

At shows I have witnessed other handlers who spend the entire day switching
dogs, watering dogs, feeding dogs, putting dogs on x-pens, grabbing a cold
burger from a MCD bag, giving half the meat to a dog who is not "road
trained" to get them to eat, grooming, showing, doubling, and then the cycle
starts all over again, the watering, the feeding, the x-pens.........I get
tired just thinking about it. So, before we pile all the handlers into the
"bunch of irresponsible" category, lets make sure to point the fingers in the
right directions. And before pointing, lets figure out if any pointing is
needed at all.

And a quick FYI: Fans work when the dogs are wet. Dogs don't sweat like
we do, so a fan on a dry dog only circulates the hotness around them.

I am sure there are a few idiots handlers who shouldn't be trusted with
other peoples dog, but on the same token, there are a bunch of people I would
NEVER give one of my dogs to. My dogs live a very good life, too good a
life according to most people. I've been told over and over to treat them
like dogs.....I do, they are treated like house dogs.

My sympathies go to the owners of the dogs in this incident. I would be
devastated.
