Lots of people tell you leather is the best. Leather leather leather
leather!!! Yeah, Leather is great....for a tab, general walking lead, collar,
or an
agitation collar/harness, but I gotta be honest....I don't like leather
tracking harnesses or tracking lines!
They take a lot of upkeep (the oiling and what not), they don't react well to
water if they haven't been oiled properly, the material can be heavy, etc
etc. And they're expensive! I got an absolutely wonderful cotton web tracking
harness for like, 20 bucks, and it holds up to the pulling of Strauss (who is
no powder puff when it comes to tracking). I got him a 40' Cotton web (or
maybe it's polyweb) line that is lightweight, doesn't readily tangle, and holds
up
well in wet weather for about 16 dollars.

Tracking equipment doesn't need to be leather and expensive to be good :D
