I have both bred and owned Select's. Those Red and Black ribbons never get
old. But I think my
favorite treasure of all, is the lovely wooden ROM plaques. That has more
meaning then all else.
It means that your dog/bitch left a lasting mark on the breed forever. All my
trophies have been
given to clubs, except those (and the black & red ribbons.) Totally awesome to
me may be the
ugliest dog on 4 legs that has given us the most wonderful babies.

hows also gives you ideas of the good and bad GSD's out there.
hen I attend the All-Breed Shows in MI and IN I do see several GSD's with
erious conformation faults, their movement is totally incorrect and their
emperament undesirable, I also see this at GSD Speciality shows too. Since
nyone can show their GSD's at these shows and the good GSD owners and breeders
hoose the shows they attend they are not always there. So the big picture is
he GSD gets a bad rap with ill-tempered unstable dogs, with poor conformation
nd movement. If only the top GSD's in several states as they did years ago
ould attend these shows it could make all the difference in the world for the
SD breed. People would be educated not to buy just any GSD from someone that
ever health tests their good dogs or promotes them.
do not travel as I use to, I use to attend horse shows Eastern National in MA
o Grand National in OK. I guess I should have taken in Dog Shows at the time

ave lots more dogs than they do today. I do understand this though since cost

BTW, I do love Capi, but, Harley had kids hanging all over him, too. Taking
any pictures, feeding him all kinds of garbage. There were good temperamented
ogs both at Westminster and at Eukanuba. Made me proud of our breed.
But, there are still some very serious health and temperament problems, over
ll. Sadly, I see these temperament problems more at Specialty Shows and at our
ational than at All-Breeds.
