these issues? If in fact the decision has been made to cancel Lexington in
favor of Topeka, has all areas of competition been considered, showing that
Topeka is the better selection? Aside from not having to pay for sod, what

this area of competition? Has all the performance areas of competition been

Back when Lexington was discussed on the list, I have an email from Tish
stating how a new building had been put up which would be used for obedience
and rally (not sure about agility, would have to go back and read it),
everyone seemed to have been sold on the Lexington site, what has now caused
the Board to look for a change? What is being offered in Topeka that is not
in Lexington? .... besides Astro-Turf?

The word on the street is that the GSDCA board was convinced to dump
the Lexington show site in favor of Topeka. The main selling point was
cost savings, especially because there is no need to lay sod, as the
Topeka site has Astro Turf. The Board was told that the Doberman Club
loved the Astro Turf.
1. Comparing the Doberman National to The GSD National is like
comparing apples to oranges. In our area, Dobie clubs often hold
regional shows in Hotel Conference rooms on carpet, so of course, Astro
Turf would be a fun upgrade. For we who are used to the real thing, we
will be disappointed with Astro Turf. I have been researching flooring
lately (for training). Astro Turf has typically not been recommended by
those who have used it.
2. Before seriously considering this move, the Board should send a
couple of handlers with dogs to test the flooring at the GSD speed and
duration.
I really don't care where the show is held. If we are in such poor
financial shape, we should just find the Park in the US that is
statistically most likely to have good weather that week and hold it
there. The dogs look best outside anyway. :) I just hate to read the
complaining on the list for weeks after the National because of
disasters that could have been avoided if someone had just done their
homework. :)
