Ok it pains me to say this… but I agree with Ed… Yes I said it… I agree with
Ed. My dogs also get green tripe and the blend that I use (and Ed) also has
gullet and trachea in it, as well as tripe and bone and other yummy bits. The
tripe, trachea and gullet are shredded and are very chewy. The dogs have to
work their jaws and those three items work as dental floss. I also provide
knuckle bones which work great & virbac dental chews ($16.99 for the xlarge bag
of 30 n Amazon - teething puppies love these). And when I remember I give the
dogs 6-8 pieces of the science diet dental kibble. My dogs have pretty nice
teeth with minimal buildup. I would rather spend my money on all the above
items then risk an older dog (over 8) to dental procedures. This has worked
pretty well. Now if I am putting a dog under for a necessary procedure I will
have their teeth cleaned, but I won’t risk them when it is far less stressful,
expensive, and dangerous to provide them with lots of the above items.
Even my old man (almost 12) goes nuts over his knuckle bones and chews (even
with his reduced chomping ability).
