In order to have your Barn Hunt title recognized by the GSDCA to receive a
title certificate and have it listed in The Review, you have to send the title
certificate you receive from the Barn Hunt Asso. to AKC, fill out AKC
paperwork, pay $30 per title and then AKC will record the title on the dog's
pedigree and send that info to the GSDCA and The Review and then it will be
recognized by the PC who then send you a certificate and publish the title in
The Review.
I know this as I just tried to send the certificates I have for Stella's RATN
and RATO to the PC and this is what I was told. And the PC/AKC will not even do
this for NW. Both BH and NW relay on the dog's ability to recognize scent &
location which is basic to police, search and rescue and war dogs so one would
think that this ability of a dog would be encouraged by the PC!!
Isn't it nice that our PC is helping make money for AKC!

Totally agree. Also have a problem when the GSDCA won't recognize the BH
title certificate from the certifying Barn Hunt Asso. and that you have to
pay a fee to AKC and then the GSDCA will recognize it.
Also think it is ridiculous that the GSDC does not recognize Nose Work
titles. Having titled dogs through a UD and Rally Excellent, getting a NW1
title takes more than HT PT and rally titles!

I noted previously that a Barn Hunt title is accepted as a legitimate
performance title for the AOE award. However, it can't be used for the PAM
award. This is inconsistent and contradictory when it's being used as a
supplement title to count towards one award but not another. Can someone
who knows about this, please explain the reasoning for this and if it will
be changed?
For those of us who work to achieve the breed club titles, this is
frustrating.
