The issue of white will never resolve so long as my generation is still voting.
There are some who will never accept whites, for anything. And, until they
(we), die off, it won't change. But, that time will come.
Remember rough coated collies and smooth coated collies? Also they are about to
bring back the original color on Irish setters. It was not in the breed for
years, but it is coming back. When will we have scented noses on Aphgans again,
if ever or has it been lost to the breed forever?
Whether we like it or not, change happens. We can rail against it, shout to
the heavens against it, we can vote against it, but eventually younger stronger
and better looking people than us will change it.
Just ask Bob Dillon.

If our breed , or any other AKC breed for that matter, starts " releasing"
dogs to create a NEW breed for no other reason other than color the unintended
consequences could be horrific and Pandora , or in the case of GDS " Panda"
wins! Why not let the Blues form their own breed, or what about the livers?...
Where does it end! Objectively speaking WHITE GSDs do NOT hurt or detract from
" shepherdess" solely because of pigmentation! Our standard subjectively DQs
whites from participating in conformation ( the dying sport of showing dogs
running around the show ring),they are allowed in EVERY other competition
venue! Are "we" wrong to exclude whites from conformation? The simple answer is
No! The standard is a moving target! Always has been and always will be. We
decide what the ideal GSD should be. At one time the White GSD was included,
today she is NOT included... Tomorrow?... Who knows?... To give up And declare
White German Shepherds are now a new breed because of, and only because of,
hair color?... Is that what we've come to? Stormy Hope is right! We have far
far more important things that effect our dog and our rights to own and breed
than to continue this argument about what to do with the white German
Shepherd!... I will continue to read opinions on this list on this subject but
this will be my last public comment on the subject! kathy honey! I'm letting

or breed, and though I hear all the time about how white dog owners LOVE their
dogs...that really is
not the concern either. I can LOVE a mutt...but that's not the issue.
Personal preferences of mine,
nor the Board nor the white Club members should be the concern here.
The PROBLEM IS...left this way...the white dogs have nowhere to go. LIMBO!
They are beautiful
to many and they are HERE TO STAY!! We as standard breeders should have the
backbone and
concern to set them free....and those who claim to love them should have the
REAL LOVE of them
enough to give up on a specific name! It will never work as it is. Set
them free!!!
Then some day while watching Westminster or Eukanuba shows we will be able to
see a beautiful
white dog gait around the ring on that dark blue carpeting while the announcer
calls out THE NEW
BREED 'NAME' as he gives its history....and the crowd will go nuts!! The
whites will finally have
its place in AKC annals of History and books! But this will never come to
pass as it is.
SOMEONE has to give them their freedom. WHERE is our backbone?? Why not
let AKC handle
this?? WE'RE NOT!!! Do we really care how AKC of FSS solves it? At
least they will actually BE.

Whether the whites stay, leave or the DQ is removed, it will not affect my
breeding
program. I prefer dark dogs, saddleless preferred.
However, as a Board Member, I must be aware of all issues.
If someone asks what the FSS requires and I have the information, I send it to
the list.
It is informational - not my opinion, nor that of the Board. Lana presents
the Board's
responses to issues.
We have a lot more important issues on our plate as DOG owners (not just GSD
owners).
